Why we're
building Circles.

This is not a manifesto. It's just an honest answer to the question we keep getting asked.

01

Something got lost.

Social media was supposed to bring us closer. And for a moment, it did. You could see what your college friends were up to, share a photo with your family across the country, feel genuinely connected to the people you cared about.

Then it changed. Quietly, gradually — the feed stopped being about your people and started being about everyone else's. Influencers. Brands. Ads. Reels designed to keep you scrolling, not connecting. Algorithms that decided what you saw and who saw you. Somewhere in all of that, the people who actually matter got buried.

"We're more connected than ever, and somehow lonelier for it."

02

It became a trap.

The apps aren't broken — they're working exactly as designed. They're built to keep you occupied, not connected. Every feature, every notification, every infinite scroll exists to hold your attention as long as possible, because your attention is the product.

The result? You spend hours a day on apps that are supposedly social, but you know less about your closest friend's life than you do about a stranger's vacation. You perform for an audience instead of just living. You post less of what's real because real doesn't get likes. Real is messy and small and ordinary — and that's exactly what makes it worth sharing.

03

We built Circles for real life.

Circles exists for the mundane, beautiful, unremarkable moments that you'd never post publicly but absolutely want to share — with the right people. The photo of your Sunday morning. The first steps. The terrible haircut. The view from your window. The things that are only meaningful because of who sees them.

No algorithm decides what gets seen. No strangers stumble onto your life. No follower counts, no performance, no comparison. Just you, the people you love, and the actual texture of your days.

04

Who it's for.

The ones who've stepped back.

You deleted the apps, or still have them but never open them. You miss the connection but not the noise. Circles is the connection without the noise.

Families scattered across the world.

You moved cities, moved countries. The people you love are everywhere but here. Circles is how you stay genuinely close despite the distance.

Friends who deserve more than a group chat.

A shared space that isn't buried in notifications, doesn't mix work contacts with your best friends, and doesn't turn into a planning thread. Just the people, just the moments.

Anyone who wants a space to just be.

No audience to perform for. No strangers to impress. Just a small, warm space where your real life is welcome exactly as it is.

We're not trying to build the next big social network.

We're trying to give you back the small, private one you already have — the one that lives in the people who actually know you.
